Where to Start

Three questions worth answering in order — before you spend money on the wrong gear.

01

Decide Between a Vest and a Rucksack

The two options do the job differently, and most beginners buy the wrong one for how they'll actually train. Our beginner's gear guide covers the honest trade-off.

02

Get Your Footwear Right

Added weight changes what your feet need. Our footwear guide explains what actually survives load, not just what looks the part.

03

Fix Problems Before They Stop You

Blisters, chafing and joint strain are mechanical problems with mechanical fixes. Our troubleshooting guide explains why, not just what to buy.

Why Load Training UK

Everyone Else in This Market Sells Their Own Kit

Search "best shoes for rucking" or "weighted vest vs rucksack" and you'll mostly find a US brand-monolith selling its own kit, a UK retailer selling its own kit, or a lifestyle magazine's shallow "I tried it" piece. Nobody neutral is helping you work out which gear actually suits what you're about to do.

Load Training UK exists to be that neutral voice. Every guide reasons from mechanism — why a hip belt matters more than a price tag, why load changes your gait and where that causes blisters, why cheap kit fails at the seams first — rather than repeating brand marketing. We're not GORUCK, we're not a UK retailer, and we're not selling our own rucksacks. Bone density and injury content is signposted to the Royal Osteoporosis Society and NHS, never treated as something this site can diagnose or prescribe.
